The meme is: Find the nearest book, turn to page 123, skip the first 5 sentences and then type out the next three sentences.
From The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson:
“Tell me,” Luke said politely to Theodora, “since you *are* a princess, tell me about the political situation in your country.”“Very unsettled,” Theodora said. “I ran away because my father, who is of course the king, insists that I marry Black Michael, who is the pretender to the throne.”
I shall tag Jenny, Ro, Brenda, Beast Mom, and Paul (yes, you, Paul. You have to have something to do on your overnight shift). For those who don't have their own blog, or would just prefer, you can complete the meme in the comments. mk

Awesome. Thanks for playing!
I've been meaning to read that book for years. Is it good?
I've been meaning to read it for years, too. So far I'm on page 6. :D I'll keep you posted.
From Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand (never read it):
Rosemont was some ten feet to his outsideleaving plenty of room for Pollard to swing Seabiscuit out of the rail-path's slow going, but Pollard didn't take the opportunity. From behind is half-moon blinker cups, Seabiscuit could see nothing but an empty track, nor is it likely that he could hear Rosemont from the grandstand. Or perhaps he was waiting for him.
Think I made enough typos?
Hi mk...
Just finishing up a week off from work; have not read your blog in a while.
Just read the 'struggle' posting; you and your 'girlfriends' are too funny.
Thanks for including me in your
meme (?) - (I had to look it up.)
Well, here goes:
From 'The Hours' by Michael Cunningham:
"It is her tribute, her gift. What more can she offer him? She is on her way back to the kitchen when the intercom buzzes."
My daughter is reading that for school. I didn't think you'd approve of my original submission:
Dear Penthouse,
I never thought this would happen to me! I work at night with 2 female coworkers! (Heh..Heh..Heh)
I know, I know; it's not even a book. But 'ya gotta read something that keeps you awake during the night-shift!
Well - gonna check out some of your PEOPLE YOU SHOULD MEET bloggers!
Paul
There is no way that I could top Paul's take on this.
You know everytime I do one of these, something weird or unworkable always happens. I opened the nearest book, opened to said page, and it was a map of California. What do I do with THAT? :) Oh wait, I'll skip the first 5 cities and write down the next 3: Willow Creak, Arcata, Eureka, Weaverville, Redding. How's that?
The other (normal) books I'm reading are too far away (all the way upstairs dangit!) and I'm feeling far too lazy to walk up 12 steps. Plus they're all about the dictatorship in N.Korea. Not exactly "fun" meme material. Page 123 will probably describe starving people who fall over dead in a food line, or a prison camp or something equally horrible. I won't bother depressing you.
Are you snowed in? WA state has actual snow now - massive avalanches and everything! It's all very, very exciting. No snow at the house however. And too deep of snow to go skiing with my non-fat skis. I'd sink 20 feet and no one would EVER find me. That would be a very bad thing.

Good thing I can COUNT. I wrote down FIVE cities, not THREE.

ok, my first comment on your posts just because I happen to have a book right here from Eldest by Christopher Paolini
~They soon left the buildings and found themselves crossing the barren fields at Tarnag's base. Beyond those, they reached the stone quay that edged the still grey water. Waiting for them were two wide rafts tied alongside the pier.
*Reading it because oldest is homeschooled and if I do not read the books too tehn I have no idea if the book report is accurate.
